This past Monday, once again, we witnessed something extraordinary—simple acts of service that reflected the very heart of Christ. Many of you stepped forward to help with a tedious but necessary task: cleaning the chairs and carpets in the Fellowship Hall.
I want to extend a special thank you to Sara, John, Catherine, George, Lorraine, Warren, Gary, and Sam for your time, energy, and faithful hands. It was the body of Christ coming together in love, service, and purpose, living out what it means to care for God’s house and God’s people.
Scripture reminds us in Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Each brush stroke, every spray of cleaner, and every moment you spent scrubbing was not just about chairs or carpet in the fellowship hall—it was an offering of love to God and one another. It was preparation to welcome all who will gather this Christmas Eve to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
In a world that often celebrates grand gestures, this project was a beautiful reminder that it is the small, faithful acts of service that often make the greatest difference. John 13:14-15 points us to Jesus, the King of Kings, who humbled Himself to wash His disciples’ feet. He said, “Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet.” On Monday, you followed that example—not with water and basins, but with brushes, spray bottles, willing hearts, and a heavy-duty carpet machine!
Because of your faithfulness, our Fellowship Hall is now a clean, welcoming space, ready to host families, friends, and even strangers this Christmas Eve. It will be a place where people will gather to hear the good news of Christ’s birth, to sing carols of joy, and to experience the love of God made real in our community. Your work went beyond simple cleaning—it created a space where God’s light will shine brightly.
Thank you for showing up, for giving your time, and for embodying the servant-hearted love of Jesus. Whether you stayed for a few minutes or a few hours, your contribution mattered. Together, you proved the truth of the saying, “Many hands make the work light.”
As we approach Christmas, let this experience encourage us all. Just as God chose ordinary people—shepherds in fields, a young couple in Bethlehem, and wise men from afar—to prepare the way for Jesus, God chooses each of us to do His work in both big and small ways. Cleaning chairs may seem ordinary, but when done in love, it becomes extraordinary.
So, as we gather this Christmas Eve in a space made ready by your hard work, let us be reminded of a greater truth: God is always preparing a place for us. In the birth of Jesus, He prepared a way for our salvation. Through your service, you have mirrored that truth—preparing a welcoming place for all to come and celebrate the hope, peace, joy, and love we find in Christ.
With a heart full of gratitude and joy,
