God is Closer than You Think

Join us for an engaging and enlightening Bible study series starting on October 10th, from 2:00 to 3:30 pm, moderated by Barb Yancey. In "God Is Closer Than You Think," we'll explore the profound insights of John Ortberg as he uses two contrasting works of art to help us contemplate the presence of God in our lives.

Michelangelo Buonarroti's masterpiece of God and Adam on the Sistine Chapel ceiling serves as a reminder that God is closer to us than we often realize. His hand is just a hair's breadth away from Adam's, emphasizing that God is here with us, now, accessible to all who seek Him.

On the other hand, we'll draw inspiration from Martin Hanford's elusive character, Waldo, in the "Where's Waldo?" books. Much like God in our lives, Waldo is present on every page but can be challenging to find. We'll delve into this paradox of God's omnipresence and our struggle to feel His presence when we need it the most.

Over six weeks, we will explore John Ortberg's book and dive into thought-provoking sessions with the following titles:

1. God’s Great Desire for People

2. Where Is God in My World?

3. Partnering with God Today

4. Listening to the Voice of God

5. God Wants a Relationship with You

6. Heaven Breaking Through

To fully engage in this study, you'll need a Bible and the Participant's Guide, available on Amazon for just $6.70 (New Edition – Blue and Black cover with binoculars). While John Ortberg's book of the same title is recommended for individual study, it is not necessary to participate in the group sessions.

For more information or to register, please contact the church office at 352-357-2833 or reach out to Barbara Yancey at 352-360-5939. Don't miss this opportunity to deepen your understanding of God's presence in your life and explore His promises with fellow members of our congregation. We look forward to growing together in faith during this enlightening journey.
