Celebrating the Life and Legacy

Beloved Church,

It is with a heart full of hope in the resurrection that we share the news of the death of our very own Rev. Dr. Michael "Frandsen" Phoenix, a beloved former pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Eustis, who entered into eternal rest on October 11, 2024. I am sharing this with the hope that we stop and reflect on his remarkable life and celebrate his profound impact on our congregation and the countless lives he touched throughout his ministry.

Rev. Dr. Michael "Frandsen" Phoenix was not only a lifelong theologian and a champion for the downtrodden, but he was also a devoted family man, a passionate tennis player, and a dear friend to many. His journey was marked by a deep commitment to service, both as a licensed social worker and as a minister of word and sacrament in the PC(USA). His dedication to helping others was evident in every aspect of his life, from his early career, where he advocated for the mentally ill, to his role as a marriage and family counselor.

Throughout his ministry, Rev. Dr. Phoenix served nine different congregations, including our own, where he inspired and guided many on their faith journeys.

I invite you to join me in celebrating Rev. Dr. Phoenix's life and ministry. Let us remember his contributions to our community and his unwavering faith.

In this spirit of gratitude, I encourage you to reach out to his family during this difficult time. Diane Frandsen, his devoted wife, can be reached at the following address:

Your words of comfort and support will mean so much to her and the entire family.

In closing, let us keep Rev. Dr. Michael "Frandsen" Phoenix in our hearts and prayers, as we celebrate the gift of his life and the legacy of faith he leaves behind.
