Summer Sermon Series

We all doubt at some point in our lives. Whether we doubt our faith, God’s goodness or just God’s willingness to work miracles in our lives, we all struggle with doubts.

In June we began a new series all about how God helps us when we struggle. Whatever doubts you might be facing right now, this series is for you! We all have doubts as to how to move forward. As Christians we have doubts as to how do we pray? How do we begin to obey? How do we lead? How do we serve people? How do we believe? How do we fight? How do we educate? How do we build? And finally how do we love?

These are the statements for each of the Sundays in the series. The idea is for our congregation to see those elements and examples from the Bible and how they’re teaching us to do each of those things which are the rightful actions of the Holy Spirit.

  • in our first sermon we looked for the answer of “how do we pray?” we pray like nehemiah. our first prayer is to request god to help us remember what god has already done in our lives.

  • on the second sermon we spoke about daniel and how he chose to resolve to be obedient by first following jewish law about food restrictions. this shows daniel obeyed god in the little things. subsequently daniel received a bigger reward for his obedience when he was put in the lion’s den.

  • our third sermon was lead like moses. we all know moses was a leader but his leadership came from his relationship with god, not his natural ability to lead. his relationship with god allowed him to forge a good relationship with his people. if we want to lead like moses, we will pay attention to our relationship with god and each other.

  • Our fourth sermon was about how to serve like Martha. We learn about how we must realize the damage of doing good badly. Martha was a fantastic servant, but her distraction and anxiousness polluted her service. With the help of God, we can be at piece serving God from who we are.

  • Our fifth sermon was about how to Beleive Like Mary. Mary never defended herself; she allows God to do that. Her faith waited patiently on God until she allowed her emotions to control her rather than what she knew about God. Don't tell me about the faith you have; show it to the world.

  • Our sixth sermon was about how to fight like David. In here, we learn that while Goliath and Saul were trusting their skills and identity of warriors to fight their wars. David, on the other hand, was trusting in the radiance of God in his heart to fight his. David knew that God was bigger than any man, more effective than any weapon and more faithful than any kingdom.
